Dorothy J. Chella, age 73, of South Weymouth passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Dotty was born and educated in Weymouth graduating from Weymouth High in 1966. She married her beloved husband, Roger, in 1969 and settled in Weymouth. Dotty and Roger lived in Weymouth since then and have cultivated many fond memories raising their family there.
Dotty worked for Balfour Company for over ten years and then retired from Quincy Mutual Insurance Company in 2013. She was a talented, competitive athlete who loved soccer, golf, running, amongst others. Dotty loved travelling and went to many destinations with her husband including but not limited to Italy, Greece, Ireland, and all over the US.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband Roger Chella of Weymouth, her loving children Robert Chella and his wife Megan of Charlestown and Michel Claudio and her husband Anthony of South Carolina, and her cherished grandchildren Michael and Sophia. She is also survived by her siblings Shirley Wiggins, Eddie Wiggins, Linda Gavin, Debbie Scollins, and Billy Wiggins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Dotty on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 4-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq) S. Weymouth, MA 02190. A funeral service in honor of Dotty’s life will begin in the funeral home Wednesday morning at 10am. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in S. Weymouth immediately following the funeral service. Donations in memory of Dotty may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.ALZ.org.
