New Bedford – John Christy, age 57 of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lynne M. (Jenkins) Christy.
John was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and was loved son of Louis Christy and Maria (Gomes) Christy. He had been a U.S. Navy Veteran and later went on to work for Acushnet Company for many years.
John was a devoted family man, who especially loved spending time with his daughter, Victoria. He also loved fishing, the Miami Dolphins, playing golf and in his free time enjoyed collecting comic books.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Christy; his wife, Lynne Christy; daughter, Victoria Christy; son, John C. Jordan of Nevada; 3 grandchildren, Dustin, Liberty, and Victor; his maternal grandmother, Irene DeSilva and siblings, Keith M. Christy, Gary J. Christy and Troy A. Christy.
John’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Perry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. His funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Thursday, beginning at 8:00 A.M. with a service to take place at 8:45 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
