Obituary

Mrs. Helene D. (Dube) Desfosses, 93, of Lawrence MA passed away peacefully on December 29, 2021, at Mary Immaculate Nursing Restorative Center. She was predeceased by her parents Ludger and Clairina (Lafond) Dube, her beloved husband Roland of 60 years as well as thirteen siblings. She was born in Lawrence on September 4, 1928, and was a longtime resident, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1946. She raised her children locally before relocating to Derry, NH with her husband. While her primary job was taking care of her large family, she also was employed at Pacific Mills, Sears and Roebuck and Market Basket during various periods in her life. "Princess" Helene was an avid bingo player who also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and making quilts. One of her greatest pleasures in life was ensuring that her family and friends had an endless supply of "P'shoos" (crocheted slippers). Nothing pleased Helene more than being surrounded by her loved ones and every person that entered her home was made to feel welcome and part of the family. No one left without the opportunity to enjoy delicious French-Canadian cuisine including her crepes and Pets de Soeurs. She was a devout Catholic who attended mass regularly at St. Anne's and St. Thomas Aquinas. Faith and family were the foundations of her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eye and brought her infinite joy. Time spent with Memere consisted of reading books, singing A Bushel and a Peck and receiving lots of kisses and cuddles. She is survived by her seven children, daughter Elaine Robidoux and husband Raymond; son Russell and wife Carol Ann; daughter Janet Desrosiers and husband Daniel; son Donald and wife Maureen; daughter Mary Claire Plourde and husband Robert; son Gene and wife Paula; and son Carl and fiancé Jennifer McNeal. She is also survived by her beloved 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer's Research Foundation

To ensure everyone's health and safety, there will be no public calling hours. A public funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 118 S. Broadway, Lawrence at 11 am on Tuesday January 4. The Archdiocese of Boston requires facemask to be worn in church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edgar J. Racicot Inc.
