NATICK: Margaret Anne (McManus) Sage, 84, died peacefully in the care and comfort of her family at her residence in Natick, MA following a period of declining health.
Anne, to her family and friends, was born in Bangor, ME on October 12, 1937 the daughter of the late John McManus and Margaret (McTigue) McManus. She is survived by her loving and devoted children; David R. Sage and his wife Janine of Grafton, MA, Rebecca A. Sage of Natick, Joseph M. Sage of San Francisco, CA and John M. Sage and his wife Grace of Kiawah, SC and York, ME. Cherished grandmother of Lindsay and Sean Sage of Grafton and Daniel and Julianne Sage of Kiawah, SC and York, ME. She was the sister of Reginald McManus and Mary (McManus) Thompson both of VA and the late Patrick McManus, John McManus, Francis McManus, Eleanore (McManus) Rielly, and Theodore McManus. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Anne spent her formative years in Bangor and graduated from John Bapst High School with the Class of 1955. She continued her education in the field of nursing and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, ME with the Class of 1958. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years and had a distinguished career at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick as an ICU and Critical Care Registered Nurse, as well as, a specialty nurse in the Radiology department at the hospital.
Anne was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a longtime communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church in Natick. She practiced her faith with the Adoration of the Holy Eucharist at Saint Patrick’s as well as private reflection with friends and family at the Fatima Shrine in Holliston, MA. She also spent countless hours as a volunteer with the homeless projects through the Saint Patrick’s Church community.
Anne enjoyed knitting, watching her children and grandchildren in their earlier years playing sports and also enjoyed watching and cheering on the New England Patriots.
Anne will be fondly remembered by all as a kind, gracious, generous and faithful person who always put others before herself. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life and the joy of her life.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland, MA.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 44 East Central Street (Rt. 135), Natick. Interment will follow in the Sage family plot in Glenwood Cemetery in South Natick, MA.
