****CELEBRATION OF LIFE CANCELED AT THIS TIME****

LEICESTER: Patrick E. Murphy, 56, of Leicester, died Friday, Dec. 24th at UMASS University campus after a short illness. He fought to survive & did not willingly leave this earth as he had so much more life to live. He dearly loved his wife of 24 years Laura L. (Errede) Murphy & with his whole heart & soul their two sons; Connor and Evan Murphy. He also leaves his parents Ruth & Roger Murphy of Auburn, his brother Shawn Murphy & his wife Christine of Quinebaug, CT, his sister Colleen Dunne & her husband John "JB" of Clinton, as well as many loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins alike. Family was everything to Patrick.
Born in Worcester & raised in Auburn, Patrick graduated in 1983 from Bay Path Reg.Voc.Tech.High School trained in Automotive Repair. He was a Master Mechanic & the proud Owner/Operator of a multi- generational family business, Demers Auto Service Corp. in Worcester. He served his community & his customers with pride & enjoyed all the friendships he made throughout the years.
Those that knew him could attest that he would, without hesitation, always be willing to lend a hand & help someone in need, offering his assistance & expertise. He was the one to call to get whatever was broken running smoothly again. He worked hard every day for there was always something that needed working on. Pat loved to fix anything & always had just the right tool for the job!
When he wanted to relax, Pat especially enjoyed a nap in his hammock or a dunk in his hot tub. Pat loved life on the lake. He woke every morning listening to the birds sing, enjoyed nightly sunsets and always played his favorite music by the fire. Favorite activities included fishing, swimming & boating.
He was an avid NHRA fan, addicted to automotive magazines, a surprisingly talented drummer & loved snowmobiling, classic cars, drag racing, collecting automotive antiques & every one of his many beloved pets.
He was a member of The Leicester Rod & Gun Club, Central MA Drag Racers, Leicester Snowmobile Club & NHRA amongst others.
Patrick was always & forever in a good mood. Friends especially miss his great big smile & those incredible bear hugs.
Due to Covid 19 the celebration of Patrick's life has been canceled at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date when it is safe to do so.
