Mary E. (Paulding) Plasse 69, a lifelong resident of Whitman, died at home surrounded by family on Thursday December 30.
Born in Weymouth and raised in Whitman, she was the daughter of Valeda “Pudie” (Martin) Paulding and the late Cornelius “Putzy” Paulding and a graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High, Class of 1971.
Prior to her retirement she had worked many years in the custodial department for the Hanson School System. In retirement Mary had assumed the responsibility of fulltime care giver to her mom.
Mary was a familiar face in the Whitman Community walking her daily route with a warm and friendly greeting for everyone met. She volunteered countless hours at the Whitman Senior Center, and was a loyal and active communicant of the Holy Ghost Church. She had also worked a day each week for the Whitman Public Library.
In addition to her mother Valeda, she is survived by her brothers Michael Paulding and his wife Patti of Whitman, Mark Paulding of Plymouth, and Leo Paulding of Plymouth as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Paulding.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Monday January 3 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and her funeral services on Tuesday January 4 at 9:45 AM from the Chapel, followed by funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be in the Saint James Cemetery.
