Doris A. Cooper, 90, of Derry, NH passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Derry Health and Rehabilitation. Doris was born September 27,1931, in Lawrence, MA and was a daughter of the late Peter and Sadie (Corey) Simon. Doris was raised and educated in Salem, NH and graduated from Woodbury High School. She later received her Nursing degree from St. Anselm’s College.
Doris was a nurse for many years, first in Obstetrics, where she would eventually lead the Obstetrics department at the Elliot Hospital. She then was employed by ARRIGG Eye and Ear in Lawrence. There she started and ran a new allergy clinic in the practice. Doris was a lifelong communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry. She enjoyed knitting, College Football and loved playing in Texas Hold’em tournaments.
Members of the family include her son Charles Cooper, three grandchildren and their spouses, Jason (Devanie), Aimee (Dave) and Shaun (Courtney), seven great grand- children, Jordan, Callie, Landon, Lyla, Ethan, Jackson and Cooper, a brother, Michael Simon and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles Cooper in 2018 and by two brothers, Donald and Joe Simon.
After cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 10am at St. Thomas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue in Derry. Following the Mass, she will be transported to the NH Veterans Cemetery to be laid to rest with her husband, Charles.
