Anthony Barry McCann, 84, of Derry, NH formerly of Methuen, MA and Vieques, PR., passed away Monday December 27, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17, 1937 in Lawrence, MA and was a son of the late James and Alice (Richter) McCann. Anthony was raised and educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Essex Northshore Agricultural & Technical School.
Anthony resided in Methuen for 18 years, prior to moving to Lincoln, NH where he and his wife owned and operated The Kancamagus Motor Lodge for an additional 18 years. After which the McCanns’ retired to their home in Vieques, PR. They would spend 9 months of the year in Puerto Rico and the additional time traveling the U.S. in their motor home. In his younger years, Anthony was a hang-gliding enthusiast and had a lifelong love of jazz music. Anthony will forever be remembered for the deep love he had for his family.
Members of the family include his loving wife of 60 years, Mary (MacIssac) McCann; four children and their spouses, Sherry (Joseph) McCann-Nehme, Shane (Catherine) McCann, Dean (Carolyn) McCann and Bryan (Ashley) McCann;13 grandchildren, Joseph, James, Jenna, John Michael, Jessica, Patrick, Kyle, Shayne (Brittany), Kacie, Sarah, Hardin Belle, Augustus and Eleanor; and one great grandson, Colton, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald McCann.
Visitation will be held Tuesday January 4, 2022 from 8:30 to 10:30am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. The burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. The family requests that masks be worn by all in attendance.
