Eleanor M. Brown, 96 of Whitman, Massachusetts died on December 27th at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a brief illness and surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bridgewater, MA in 1925 and daughter of the late Frederico and Augusta (Batti) D’Arpino.
Prior to becoming a homemaker, Ellie worked at J.J. Newbury’s in Whitman Center. Ellie was a member and former President serving with commitment for many years with the Women’s VFW Auxiliary of Abington, MA.
She was devoted to her immediate and extended family. Her welcoming spirit turned her home into a place for all to stop in for a quick visit, sit at her table for coffee and cookies. Ellie loved spending time with her family and took much joy from keeping up with their lives. She always carried a kind and generous attitude and heart. Ellie will be greatly missed.
Ellie was the wife of the late John J. Brown, Jr. for 47 Years. She was sister to her predeceased siblings, Antonio D’Arpino, Mary MacLeod, Louise Langton and Angelina Treptow.
She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Janice Carmichael and the late Wayne Carmichael of Kingston, grandchildren: Pippa MacVarish and her husband Brian of Plymouth, Nina Moylan and her husband Tom of Hanson, Wayne Carmichael and his wife Charlene of Plymouth. Eleanor (G.G.) also leaves behind the joys of her life, her great grandchildren: Hank Moylan, Bailey Moylan, John MacVarish, Ainslee MacVarish, Joshua Carmichael and Alex Carmichael. She is also survived by her cherished sister, Edith Lincoln of Bridgewater and her many nieces and nephews. Ellie will be missed by her dog Toby, who kept watchful and loving eye over her.
Grateful for the condolences, the family will holding a private service at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Whitman, MA. Interment will be private at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington where Eleanor will be laid to rest with her husband “Jack”. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life in Ellie’s honor to be planned at a later date.
