Robert A. Sestito “Bob”, age 93, of Medford, passed peacefully at home with his family by his side, on December 25th . The beloved husband of Claire (Puccia) Sestito, Bob was a loving father of Robert Sestito and his wife Karen, Cheryl Rabbitt and partner Paul Fay, and his former son-in-law James Rabbitt, Susan Jillett and her husband Jack, Joseph Sestito and his wife Marilyn. The beloved son-in-law to the late Joseph and Rose Puccia, he is also predeceased by his beloved dog Bella.
Bob was the loving brother of the late Vincent Sestito and his wife Mafalda, the late Rose Durant and her husband Martin, the late Elizabeth Sachetta and her surviving husband Salvatore, the late Theresa Skinner and her husband Arthur, the late Viola Carlucci and her husband Al, the late Catherine Collins and her husband George, and the late Palmina Brauer and her husband Frankie. He was also brother-in-law to Anne and Lou Spagnolo, Rosemarie and Tom Bryan, the late Albert and Alberta Puccia and Josephine and Charles Hoff.
Bob is also survived by three grandchildren: James Rabbit and his wife Lillian, Kristin Rabbitt Cardone and her husband Brian and Jackie Jillett as well as one great grandchild, Giuliana Cardone and future great grandchild Salvatore Robert Cardone due in January. Bob leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Born in Malden, MA Robert was the last surviving member of eight children born to his Italian immigrant parents Pasquale and Chiarina Sestito. He grew up in a large Italian family where he was taught the importance of family values, kindness and love. His pleasures and enjoyment in life were working in his yard and garden, wood working projects, working on his children’s homes, family gatherings, having spaghetti and meatball dinners with his children and grandchildren, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, walking his beloved dog Bella, taking family vacations to Maine, and visiting his children. Family meant everything to him.
Bob worked at Westinghouse as an appliance repair man and retired from the Medford Housing Authority. Bob also served in the United States Army with the rank of Corporal in the 82nd Recon Division. He was very proud of the service to his country.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Sunday January 2nd from 3 -7 PM and again on Monday at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441Fellsway West, Medford at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
