Morrison, Rodney J. age 87, died peacefully on December 16 in Chicago IL. Raised in Wakefield MA, Rod served one tour of duty in The United States Navy during the Korean War. He went on to graduate from Boston College with honors and received his Ph.D. from The University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Rod joined the Economics Department at Wellesley College, in Wellesley, MA, and during more than three decades of teaching was a respected, honored, and chaired professor. He was a NATO Fellow in Economics and his work on economic theory and American economic history was published in books and major scholarly journals. Rod was an avid traveler and a lifelong Cubs fan with a cutting, dry wit.
Rod was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sheila Ann Tewksbury and dear friend, Anna Fan Katz. He is survived by his son, Timothy, daughter-in-law, Katherine Ross and his grandson Tucker.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley on Thursday, December 30, at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Ignatius Church, Chestnut Hill. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7pm. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
