Sally Ann Lamb, 64, of Mystic, Connecticut passed away peacefully on December 25, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sally was born on December 10, 1957 in New London, Connecticut. She was the granddaughter of Joseph S. and Ida P. Santin and the daughter of Horace B. and Doris S. Lamb.
Sally graduated from Fitch High School in 1976 and was a top seed on their tennis team. While in high school she worked summers at the Mystic Seaport as part of their “Mod Squad” climbing the rigging and setting the sails on the Charles W. Morgan.
Sally received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Boston University. While at BU she played singles and doubles on their tennis team.
Sally continued her pursuit of learning in California where she received a degree in Orthopedics and Prosthetics from UCLA. While working in that field, Sally made frequent trips with Doctors Without Borders to help fit prosthetics. Sally also volunteered with Special Olympics in both California and Connecticut. She enjoyed swimming, biking, and running. This led to her participation in many triathlons. She also completed the Alcatraz swim several times. This past fall, despite the weather and her illness she took one last ocean swim at GLP.
In retirement Sally moved home to Mystic to help care for her mother. She managed the Wadawanuck Yacht Club in Stonington and was a lifeguard at the Naik Family branch of the Mystic YMCA. Sally was on the Board of Directors at Bishop’s Cove. She was an enthusiastic volunteer for Groton Open Space Associations (GOSA) and was proud to have received their new volunteer award.
Sally is survived by her sister Nancy Lamb Handler and her husband Michael Handler of Mumford Cove and her sister Patricia Lamb of Hartford. Also mourning her loss are her step daughter Jennifer Weiss and her husband Alex Weiss, her niece Sarah Kelley and her husband Christopher Kelley and her beloved grand nieces Hannah and Emma Kelley. Sally also leaves many loving cousins including her dearest cousin Julie Paradis and her best friend Shannon Barton.
The family will gather for a private graveside burial. A celebration of Sally’s life will be held in June.
