Joseph (Joe) Maffeo, 92, passed away on December 26, 2021, after a brief illness. Joe was born in Everett, MA, on September 10, 1929, to his late parents, Michael “Kelly” Maffeo and Louise (Colarusso) Maffeo. He survived his late sister, Theresa Wood, and late brother, Michael Maffeo.
Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean (Pucci) Maffeo, son Dennis and daughter-in law Donna (Wood) Maffeo, grandson, Joseph Maffeo, and granddaughter Hannah Maffeo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe served two years in the US Army where he worked in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Denver, Colorado. He moved to Malden, MA in 1962, where he lived most of his life until moving to Tewksbury, MA, in 2001. Joe was a hard worker throughout his long life. Prior to retiring, he worked as a maintenance mechanic at a steel warehouse.
In his spare time, Joe loved helping family and friends with home maintenance, repairs and remodeling. Joe also loved to travel and spent many vacations in Colorado and Las Vegas, along with the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
A wake will be held at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. No funeral mass will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s name to a children’s cancer charity of your choice.
