Mrs. Elaine P. (Curran) Buckland, a long-time resident of Medford and wife of the late Raymond Buckland, passed away at the Winchester Nursing Center in Winchester on Monday morning, December 27, 2021. She was 93 years old.
Born in Woburn, Massachusetts, on July 24, 1928, she was the beloved daughter of the late John P. Curran and Margaret (Clougherty) Coakley. Elaine worked as a Nursing Assistant for many years while raising her family with her beloved husband Raymond until his death in 2007. Together, they enjoyed winters in Florida and raising their grandchildren when they were young. Elaine and Ray were married for over fifty years and the epitome of a true love story. Above all, Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the matriarch who enjoyed taking care of her family and was everyone’s rock in hard times. Always the life of the party and up for a good time, Elaine left a mark on everyone she met with her larger than life personality and funny antics. Her quick wit was unmatched and is the source of endless stories and memories her family and friends will always treasure. She truly was one in a million and her absence leaves a huge void in her family.
Elaine was the devoted mother to Patti M. Collins of Medford and Woburn and the late Raymond J. Buckland and his wife Robin of Lynn. She was the loving grandmother to Cathleen Russo and her husband Frank of Lynn, the late Michael F. Collins, and Sean Buckland of Lynn, as well as great-grandmother to AJ Russo of Lynn. Elaine was the dear sister of William F. Coakley and his wife Bunny of Medford, and to the late Albert Curran, Margaret Colcord, Katherine Jordan, Robert Curran, Patricia Reavy, John Coakley, Donald Coakley and Kevin Coakley. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 10 AM.
