Belmont – Lola R. (Goldschmidt) Riordan, 83, of Worcester passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021 after a long illness.
Mrs. Riordan was married for 53 years to the late James F. Riordan who passed away in 2019. She is survived by her son, James F. Riordan II and his wife, Daniela Bourges of Lexington and a grandchild, Cecilia Riordan of Lexington.
Lola was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Andrew and Rheda (Laprade) Goldschmidt and lived here for most of her life until recently moving to be closer to her family. Mrs. Riordan worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a research biochemist, and then for many years as an art teacher in the Worcester Vocational School System.
Lola enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and pets. She was an accomplished painter and wood carver. Through her teaching, she touched many lives and improved her community.
Funeral services will be held at a later date with burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Riordan may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 309 Waverly Oaks Road Waltham, MA 02452 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
