James P. Brems
Retired Member of Teamster’s Local # 25
TEWKSBURY: James P. Brems, age 81, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, following a long period of failing health and lung disease.
He was born in Everett, MA and was the son of the late James L. Brems and Kathryn (Bangs) Brems.
After high school he enlisted in the USMC where he served for the next six years until his honorable discharge as a Lance Corporal.
Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed for over 30 years as a Local # 25 Teamster.
Jim was a great man. He never won a war, never made a law, never wrote a novel, never won an award, but was greater than any general, politician or author.
He was kind, quiet, humble, “a private man” who was a role model for his children.
Jim loved his Family, God, and Country.
He worked tirelessly in his yard and garden. Jim enjoyed scuba diving, travel, snowmobiling, and whitewater rafting.
He was married to Dorothy (King) Brems for 56 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Patricia A. Brems, of Litchfield, NH and Annmarie Brems, of Tewksbury: Grandchildren, Samantha Phair and husband Jack, of Derry, NH, Matthew Brems, 2nd Lieutenant of Destin, FL. Jim was called “DA” by his great grandchildren, Lincoln Brems Johanson and Greyson Brems Phair. He was the brother of Dorothy Buskey, of So. Weymouth, Frederick Brems and his wife Debra, of Saugus, and Richard Brems, of Franklin, NH. He leaves his brother-in-law, Dennis King and his wife Anne, of Chelmsford: his sister-in-law, Eddie King: many nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his brother-in-law and friend, John J. King and his twin infant daughters, Mary Ann and Margaret Ann Brems.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 29, from 4-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, dec. 30, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
