Obituary

Betty Lou (Brown) Cabral, 85, of New Bedford passed after a brief illness on December 22, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital. Betty Lou was the devoted wife of David D. Cabral and mother of four children. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time she passed.
Born in Madison, WI, the daughter of the late James A. and Lucille M. (Burdick) Brown, she lived in New Bedford since 1958.
Betty Lou was an active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a long-standing member of the Women's League. She received the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her many years of service.
While in Nursing School in Madison, WI, she met David while stationed in the military and they wed in 1957 and shortly, thereafter moving to David's native town of New Bedford, MA. Once settled in New Bedford, Betty Lou began her life as a devoted wife, mother, and geriatric nurse. She was formerly employed as a licensed practical nurse at Hallmark Nursing Home for 35 years until her retirement. Betty Lou had a way of filling those around her with warmth, love and so much kindness.
Betty Lou had a deep passion for helping others and passed her love of family to all her children. Betty Lou was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was loved by many.
Survivors include her husband; her son, Jeffrey Cabral of Tampa, FL; 3 daughters, Debra Silveira and her husband William of Lakeville, MA, Jodi Cabral of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Stacy Kruger and her husband Scott of Westport, MA; 2 brothers, Donald Brown and Ronald Brown, both of Madison, WI; a sister, Arlene Moura of Madison, WI; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Katz, Nicole Silveira, Austin Cabral, Taylor Cabral, Micah Cabral, Elizabeth Hughes and Christina Gregory; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Diana Hill and Phyllis Licke.
Her Funeral Mass will celebrated on Thursday, December 30th, at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 121 Mount Pleasant St New Bedford, followed by a private burial.
