Kenneth G. Collins, a resident of North Andover, formerly of Andover and beloved husband of Anne L. (McAuliffe) Collins, passed away at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Friday morning, December 24, 2021 after a heroic battle with juvenile diabetes and heart disease. He was 74 years old and passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on August 3, 1947, he was the beloved son of the late James L. and Marie E. (Fitzpatrick) Collins. Kenneth Collins served in the National Guard and attended Bentley College. He was employed as a Hoisting Engineer for more than 40 years and was a member of the Local IUOE #4 (International Union of Operating Engineers) as well as a 40 year member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Augustine’s Church, Andover.
Ken enjoyed playing golf and was always proud of his spectacular day when he finally achieved the ultimate goal of a hole-in-one. He loved enjoying the warm summer days at his beach home in York, Maine. Above all, he was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather and friend to so many. He will be dearly missed by all that have been part of his life.
Besides his beloved wife, Anne, Ken is survived by his loving daughters; Maura A. Collins of St. Petersburg, Florida and Erin Collins Whitney and her husband Gregory Whitney of Chelmsford; brother Paul Collins and his wife Elizabeth Collins of Kittery Point, Maine; grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Natalie and Colin and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard and late sister Janice Collins.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Tuesday, prior to the mass, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Interment will be held in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
