Phyllis Thompson (Pray), age 101, of Weymouth passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021. Phyllis knew how to enjoy life and while she was gracious and welcoming, was also incredibly independent until her last month of life. She gladly did things her way without requiring (or wanting) help from those around her.
Phyllis and her husband George cultivated many fond memories at their vacation homes in Sandwich, MA and Deerfield, NH. Phyllis loved snowmobiling and often swam at Peters Pond in Sandwich. She enjoyed all types of sewing and knitting and was extremely talented. Many friends and family have scarves and prayer shawls that Phyllis made for them until she was 99 years old.
Phyllis was very active in the Weymouth community in organizations like the Weymouth Art Association, Abigail Adams Historical Society, First Church in Weymouth, Friends of South Shore Hospital, and the order of the Eastern Star.
Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband George H. Thompson. She is survived by her loving children Annis Thompson Remsen and her husband Eric of Weymouth, Marilyn Jean Thompson Cantley and her husband Larry of North Carolina, and George Hawley Thompson Jr. and his wife Lisa Ann Thompson of Deerfield, NH, her grandchildren Thomas Remsen, Robert Remsen, Melissa Remsen, Jessica Ardo, Alycia Cantley, George Thompson III, and Tracy Nichter, her great-grandchildren Adam, Alice, Lillian, Jack, Juliana, Brayden, Ryan, Eleanor, Henry, Simon, Leo, and Brooke.
Services for Phyllis are in the care of C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located in Weymouth and will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Church in Weymouth at 17 Church Street Weymouth, MA or Hospice of the South Shore at 30 Reservoir Park Dr. Rockland, MA. Phyllis will be interred at Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
