Frederick A. Ekstrand, Sr., age 77, of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the All American Assisted Living in Raynham. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen (Gatanti) Ekstrand, to whom he was wed for nearly forty-seven years at the time of her death on April 14, 2012.
Born in Brockton, MA on January 19, 1944, he was a loving son of the late Oscar and Ida (DePalma) Ekstrand.
Fred grew up in Brockton, was a graduate of Brockton High School and continued his education, graduating with an associate degree from Franklin Pierce Institute.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Ekstrand had worked for many years as a Senior Electrical Designer. He had made his home in Norton for the past fifty-two years and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton. He loved spending time with his family and his hobbies included sailing and playing golf.
He is survived by his devoted children: Mary Ann White and her husband William of Attleboro, Frederick A. Ekstarnd, Jr. of Norton, Joseph V. Ekstrand and his wife Nancy of Raynham and Peter M. Ekstrand of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Morgan A. White, Zachary E. White, Kelly Gladding of Raynham and Katie Gladding of Raynham. He was the dear brother of Rita Duquette of Brockton.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 30th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
His funeral will begin on Friday, December 31st at 10:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
