Edward C. Kelly 82, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, at home after a brief illness on Wednesday December 22, 2021.
Born in Boston MA, on January 29th 1939, he was the son of the late Edward Kelly and Katherine Davey and stepfather Bob McAvoy and brother of the late Ann(Nancy) Dyer of Hyde Park.
He was raised and educated in Mission Hill (Roxbury). In 1968 Edward and his wife of 56 years Maureen, moved to Franklin where they raised and educated their four sons, Edward Jr, John, Michael and Derek. Edward was a proud grandfather of 5 and 1 great grandchild.
After graduating from catholic school in Boston, he went on to Northeastern University, earning a graduate degree in finance.
He was also a proud Navy Veteran from 1962 thru 1965. During his time in the Navy he became lifelong friends with a few of his fellow Navy Veterans.
He worked at Northrop Grumman in Norwood, MA for over 30 years as a financial analyst. After retiring from Northrup Grumman he worked part time at Putnam Investments in Franklin, MA for several years.
He was a proud life long member of the Franklin Elks for 50 years and also a member of the Franklin Rod & Gun Club. Edward was known for his entertaining stories he could still tell to his last day. He was a WWII history buff, reading and watching anything to do with the history of WWII. He enjoyed watching the local sports teams, especially the Patriots while hoping he would hit a square.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours Monday Dec 27th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St.
A private internment at Bourne National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
