Obituary

Geneva A. Sebastian an Elder of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation was called home to be with the lord “Great Spirit” during the early morning of Dec. 16, 2021. She passed peacefully in her home supported and surrounded by her loving family in Pinellas Park, Fla.

Geneva was born in Mystic, June 7, 1937, to mother Harriet and father Benjamin Sebastian. Geneva was one of seven children. Survived by her sister Mary Sebastian. Predeceased by sisters, Harriet Maddox, Thelma Robinson, Marion Lewis; and brothers, Henry Sebastian who severed in Korean War and Robert “Bobby” Sebastian who served in the Vietnam War.

Geneva graduated in 1955 from Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton . She started her own family having seven children, Willis Boykin, Leon Boykin, Kenneth Boykin, Holly McQuany, James Loftis, Deirdre Loftis, and Peter Loftis of whom she is also survived by. She began her adult life as teacher’s aide at Claude Chester Elementary School in Groton. As well as Mashantucket Child Center. She became a member of Pleasant Street Baptist Church in 1989 were she strengthened her faith in God and loved her church family. Geneva will be remembered for her kind and nurturing energy that touched many while on this earth She will be truly missed by her children, 50 plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.

The Service for Geneva Sebastian will be held at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic, on Saturday, January 8th, 2021. Family and friends will be greeted at 10am-11am followed by the funeral service at 11am to 12pm. Spreading of the Ashes will be held immediately after the funeral service on the Eastern Pequot Reservation in North Stonington CT. Repass will be held at the
Preston VFW 28 Spicer Rd., Preston, CT 06365.
