Stuart Wilder “Bump” Studley, Jr., age 86, of Norton, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife, Bonnie in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Born in Rockland, MA on August 15, 1935 to the late Stuart W. Studley, Sr. and Edna B. (Sangster) Studley, he was a 1954 graduate of Marshfield High School.
He earned his pilot’s license in 1951, soloing in 2 ½ hours. He owned 3 planes while in high school which had to be registered to his mother because he was too young.
He was a candy maker, and owned Estes Candy Kitchen in Brant Rock for a number of years. He was a call firefighter in Brant Rock, and was the first EMT in Hanson, also a firefighter there.
He flew the Plymouth County fire plane for 30 years out of the Plymouth airport.
An experimental machinist, he worked for Bethlehem Steele at the Quincy Shipyard under Admiral Hyman Rickover on the 1st nuclear powered submarine, USS Nautilus rocket launcher, and was aboard the shakedown cruise of the USS Decatur DD-936.
Occasionally, he worked and flew for Atty. F. Lee Bailey. He also Owned Jay’s Trucking, named for his son.
He was a proud 64-year Mason, belonging to and Organist for many lodges, for the last 10+ years Ezekiel Bates Lodge in Attleboro. A member of Hope Chapter No. 41, Order of the Eastern Star, Phoenix Royal Arch Chapter and NAVA Grotto.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Bonnie J. (MacDonald) Studley, his children and stepchildren, Jay Studley in Maine; Laurie Holt in Halifax; Amy Topham in Bristol, RI; Brett Jones (Ticia) in Mendon and Hollie Oliveira (Rob) in Seekonk. Six grandchildren, Megan, Chelsea, Kylie, Jake, Zack and Cody. And 3 great grandchildren, Lexie, Logan and Thomas. Pre-deceased by his brother Lee Studley and stepson Todd Jones.

A celebration of Life, with Masonic Service, will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Ezekiel Bates Lodge, 71 North Main St., Attleboro, MA.
