Edward B. O'Neil, 94, of Newton and formerly of South Boston and West Roxbury, died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham.
He was the husband of the late Catherine (Mitchell) O'Neil.
Born in South Boston, he was the son of the late William J. and Maryann (O'Neill) O'Neil. He worked as a payroll clerk for the MBTA for many years.
He was the former president of the Building Services Employee International Union.
He leaves his children, Edward G. O'Neil and his wife, Kathleen, of Cohasset, Karen A. Loughran and her husband, James, of Framingham and William J. O'Neil and his wife, Claire, of Medfield; and his grandchildren, Caitlin, Maggie, Christopher, Jennifer, Stephanie and Jay.
He was the brother of the late Mabelle, William and Margaret O'Neil.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 25, at 9 a.m., at the P.E. Murray-George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., West Roxbury, followed by a funeral Mass, at 10 a.m., at Holy Name Church, West Roxbury.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 24, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
