Floyd T. Edwards, 88, of Franklin, died Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Newton Wellesley Center for Alzheimer’s Care. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Danes). They were married in South Portland, ME in August 1957 and celebrated 63 anniversaries until her passing in September 2020.
Born in Biddeford, Maine on November 17, 1933, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Tschamler) Edwards.
Floyd was a resident of Franklin since 1997 and formerly resided in Bloomfield, Conn. He grew up in Kittery, Maine and graduated from Traip Academy in 1951. He attended University of Maine - Orono and graduated in 1955 earning his Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering.
Floyd proudly served in the Army for 2 years. During that time, he served at Arlington National Cemetery and was on the honor guard that protected the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Floyd worked in at the former Industrial Risk Insurers in Houston, TX and Hartford, CT for 42 years prior to retiring in 1997. In retirement, he visited London, the Panama Canal, and to Germany to see the Passion Play along with many other trips he enjoyed with his wife.
Floyd was a member of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter of MA and the Franklin Elks Club. An avid Red Sox fan, Floyd was a season ticket holder for 21 years and kept box scores of every game.
He is survived by two daughters, Camille Ostman and Nerissa Edwards and her husband James Sadwith, and four grandchildren, Gabrielle Ciarcia, Austin Cawley-Edwards, Geoffrey Ostman and Sawyer Cawley-Edwards.
Burial will take place privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date.
