Obituary

LACONIA---Jerry Thomas Moore, 77, of Laconia, NH passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 after a long illness.

Jerry was born on August 27, 1944 in San Jose, California to Verna (Withycombe) Moore and Charles T. Moore. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Jerry was an engineer by trade but his true passion in life was fly fishing which led him to purchase a small sporting goods store in Wolfeboro, specializing in fishing, where he led many anglers to the best fishing spots in New Hampshire. He took great joy and was happiest in the outdoors, especially when he was able to teach and mentor a young person to fish. If we were out and Jerry encountered anyone who asked him a question or made a comment about fishing, Marcia knew she better pull up a chair because we were going to be awhile. He had many fishing adventures all over the world.

His other passions in life were golf, painting, spending time with family, friends and animals. Jerry was a gentle soul who loved easily and always had a smile on his face, no matter what was happening in his life and never had a negative thing to say about anyone he encountered. To say Jerry will be forever missed is an understatement.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Marcia (Legassie) Moore of Laconia, NH; daughter, Christie Moore; two granddaughters, Callie and Kendra of San Jose, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Mike Smith of Mount Shasta, CA; brother, Ken Moore of Rocklin, CA; and special cousins, Shelly Judkins, Brian Withycombe, and Claire Hill, all of CA. Additionally Jerry is survived by his adopted Legassie family, Richard Legassie, Norman & Zilla Legassie, Kathy Legassie, Cindy & Tom Balint, Ray and Mary Legassie, all of Laconia, NH, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; cousin, Scott Withycombe; brother-in-law, Bob Legassie; and his in-laws, Grammy and Grampy Legassie.

Special thanks to Concord Hospital ICU unit for the special care and compassion given to Jerry and his family. You are all angels in disguise.

In lieu of flowers, please consider taking a child fishing, mentoring a child in golf or anything to do with outdoor activities or maybe fostering an animal that is in need of love. And please remember to smile at someone every day.
