Emma Veal Harrell, 76, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, December 24, 2021, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Bro. Tracy Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Harrell was born May 20, 1945, in Berrien County, Georgia, to the late Chesley Reuben & Susie Ruth Luke Stanford. She worked as a seamstress for H.R. Kaminsky & Sons and the Cotton Mill and was a cashier for Peach Express. She enjoyed her flowers and sitting on her porch. She was a member of Anderson Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Harrell of Fitzgerald; children: Glenda Ray & Chuck Dukes of Tifton, Billie Jean Meeks & Donnie Harper of Douglas, Daniel & Judy Ray of Douglas, Gerald & Kelly Ray of Douglas, and Barbara Hyman of Alapaha; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Gerline Stanford of Tifton and Beatrice Branch of Fitzgerald; and a brother, Roy Stanford of Fitzgerald. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lee Veal; a son, Gregory Scott Ray; a nephew whom she helped raise, Roger Stanford; brothers: Jimmy Stanford, Junior Stanford, Garfield Stanford, Troy Stanford, Joe Harvey Stanford and an infant brother, Jay Henry Stanford and a sister, Edith Alexander.
