Mariana G. Monteiro, 89, of New Bedford died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Monteiro.
Born and raised in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late James Correia Gomes and the late Maria (Silva) Gomes, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mariana was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses New Bedford Congregation.
She was formerly employed by Ocean Spray in Middleboro for many years until her retirement.
Mariana enjoyed her religious groups, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was well liked by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, James M. Gomes; two daughers, Maria Fatima Gomes and Laura Gilmore; her brother, Jose Gomes; three sisters, Laura Gomes, Eugenia G. Andrade, and Lucilla Gomes; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
