Joanne Nelson, 79, of Ashburn passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Jeff Davis Hospital in Hazelhurst.
Joanne was born in Colquitt County on December 22, 1941 to the late John Cleveland and Carolyn Craft Donahoo. She was a florist and enjoyed her work. She was known for selling flower arrangements even after her retirement. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed talking about her family. She was also a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Beth (David) Varnadoe of Hazlehurst, Ken Nelson of Van Buren, Arkansas and Tony (Libby) Nelson of Blue Ridge; sister, Zollie Smart of Treasure Island, Florida; brother Royce Donahoo of Sycamore; grandchildren, Joshua Nelson, Jason Nelson and Daniel Nelson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Kenneth Nelson, Jr. and sister, Jetta Sprayberry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Sycamore Baptist Church. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of services at the church. Inurnment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Sycamore.
