GROTON: Dennis Joseph Nolan Sr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was the son of Eleanor Lee Patterson and Joseph Daniel Nolan.
“It is how well you live that matters, not how long”
Dennis lived a full and generous life. Denny, as known to friends and family, served in the US Navy and went on to join the US Marines. He retired from Pfizer as a Chemical Operator.
His hobbies were horseback riding, camping, many canoe trips, and he was an avid Steelers Fan.
He was married to the love of his life, Ruth (Molly) Nolan for 50 years until her death in 2005. He is also predeceased by his daughter, Kelly Nolan.
Dennis is survived by his children, Denise of Texas, Timothy(Jeanne) of RI, Robert (Debra), Dennis, and Tracy, all of CT. Dennis is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, one brother Duane (Cindy) of Pittsburgh and their three children Duncan, Lisa and Amy and sister-in-law Carolyn and her husband Willard Englebrink of Texas and their son Michael. He was known as Papa and Great Papa to his beloved granddaughter Shawna and her daughter Ryleigh who were the loves of his life.
Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private for the family.
