Earl “Wendell” Westbrook, 76, of Tifton passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Navicent Health in Macon. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2021, at New River Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Marchant officiating. Mr. Westbrook will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at New River Baptist Church from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mr. Westbrook’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Westbrook’s AT&T buddies.
Born February 4, 1945, in Miami, Florida, Mr. Westbrook was the son of the late Earl Westbrook and Clara Wynn Hughes Westbrook. He was also preceded in death by one brother, James A. Hughes. Before retiring, he was employed with AT&T for 33+ years. He was a loving father and grandfather. He had a passion for genealogy and worked on his family’s, as well as many others, genealogical history for over 40 years. He was an active member of New River Baptist Church and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Westbrook is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Annis Westbrook of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Alisa Westbrook of Pine Mountain; one daughter, Jennifer Westbrook of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Martha Hughes of Albany; two sisters, Serenah Hughes Tyson of Brooks and Martha Westbrook Walters of Macon; two grandchildren, Aidan Westbrook and Adam Westbrook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
