Obituary

Elaine Alden (MacDonald) of Waltham, passed away on December 9, 2021 surrounded by her husband & children. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who was taken from us unexpectedly due to health complications.

Elaine was born November 26, 1957 in Needham and grew up in Medfield. She graduated from Medfield High School in 1975.

Elaine was an avid lover of music, which those who really knew her, know that her musical prowess really shined when singing ‘Ave María’. Although Elaine battled health issues throughout her life, it never stopped her from living a fantastic life and giving her best to everyone she loved. She also enjoyed the little things, like her select spot on the couch & being pampered & waited on, even if it was for something as simple as ‘ice & a Diet Coke ’. That’s not to say she didn’t enjoy the shiny things in life, as she had expensive taste & loved shopping for herself, as well spoiling others. She may have been small, but boy was she fierce and a massive fighter. She loved her friends and family more than anything & would do anything for them, she was the glue that kept her family together.

Elaine married the love of her life Daniel Alden (Waltham, MA) with whom she recently celebrated forty four years of marriage. Prior to starting a family, Elaine and Daniel loved traveling to tropical destinations with their closest friends. She loved the island getaways & blue Hawaiian’s. Elaine fulfilled her dream of owning a gift shop when she opened ‘Crumpets’ in Belmont. Elaine had a major sweet tooth and recently enjoyed baking and trying new recipes. She loved playing games on her iPad, watching soap operas & had just begun crocheting blankets. One of Elaine’s favorite things to do was to spend time with her granddaughter. Aaliyah was the light of her life. They were two peas in a pod and equally enjoyed spending time together. Elaine took pride in teaching Aaliyah new things as well as making sure she was ‘the best dressed child’ anywhere she went.

Elaine was the daughter of the late William MacDonald (Needham) and Marie Ray (Bartsch), stepdaughter to Flori (Lawrence) Ray. She was preceded in death by her brothers Kevin and Paul MacDonald (Franklin) and Lawrence Ray (Searsport, ME). Elaine was the beloved wife of Daniel Alden, loving mother of her two children Michael & and Samantha Alden and devoted grandmother to Aaliyah Camacho. Elaine is also survived by her brother William MacDonald and wife Carla (Charlestown, NH), brother Richard and wife Janet Ray (Cumberland, RI) & her sister Denise Dellaselva (Mendon, MA) as well as sister-in-laws Laraine (the late Kevin) & Diane (the late Paul) MacDonald (Franklin, MA) & countless nieces & nephews & cousins.

She brought light & laughter to so many, which brings comfort to us in remembering her legacy. Calling hours will be held at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St, Boston, MA 02127 on Sunday Dec 19, 2021 from 2-4 pm. Private family services at a later date.
