Obituary

Gordon G. Costa, Jr., 57, of Westport, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Carol (Coroa) Costa.

A gentleman devoted to his family. He had many interests. He enjoyed playing his guitar, his love of music spanned from classical, blues, jazz & rock to heavy metal, he had an appreciation for it all. He enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and watching TV: politics & history as well as comedy and classic movies which his kids called “Dad’s Grey TV.” He loved travel, Europe and Bermuda being favorite destinations. He took his children on nightly bike rides and fishing from local waters, they were his biggest source of pride. He became a peewee soccer coach when his daughter expressed an interest in the sport, and he never missed a baseball, soccer or basketball game. He had a dedicated work ethic and was a stellar employee for the State of Massachusetts DOT for over 20 years, going out on calls at all hours or in the midst of a snowstorm. Loyalty to his job and exemplary performance was very important to him. Before his employment with the state he worked as a driver for Quansett Nurseries in Dartmouth. He was an EMT at STAT Ambulance Co. and a volunteer firefighter for that town.

Besides his wife, Carol, he leaves a son Benjamin, daughter Emily & sister in law Sheila McQuillan, all of Westport.

His family would like to thank all of the nurses who cared for him and kind neighbors, friends and family who offered help and prayers during a difficult time,

Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
