Obituary

Junaslovic Goncalves Mendes passed away on December 14, 2021, in Taunton, MA. He was born on September 5, 1995, in Praia, Cape Verde, to father Julio Mendes and mother Domingas (Nazare) Mendes.

Junas was a selfless individual. He was a devoted family man who always put the needs of his loved ones first. He loved his family and fought valiantly to protect them all. Junas made it his life mission to serve others, and to him, there was no greater joy.

He graduated from Brockton High School in 2013. Shortly after, Junas enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., serving proudly as an ammunition technician for a little over two years in Okinawa, Japan. While in the military, Junas earned the following badges: National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Two Expert Rifle Qualification Badges, and an Expert Pistol Qualification Badge.

Junas is survived by his father Julio Mendes, mother Domingas (Nazare) Mendes, brother Ademar (Eddie) Mendes, sisters Amberly Ann Mendes and Natalie Mendes, paternal grandmother Maria Mendes, maternal grandfather Domingoes Lopes Depina, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles who continue to love him for the amazing, joyful, good-hearted, and well-spirited individual that he was.

Visitation is in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton, Monday, December 20th, from 5-9 pm. Services in the Funeral Home Tuesday, December 21 at 9 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E Main Street Brockton, at 10 am. Burial to follow in Bourne National Cemetery located at Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, Ma 02542 at 1:15 pm.
