Obituary

Mary E. (DePrimeo) Sodi, age 90, a 56-year resident of Winchester, passed away on December 14, 2021. She was the beloved wife for 47 years of the late Joseph P. Sodi, until his death in 1996.

Born in Cambridge, Mary was the daughter of the late Bartholomew and Rosa (DeRenzo) DePrimeo. She was raised and educated in East Cambridge. After high school, she worked at New England Provision Company (NEPCO) where she met the love of her life, Joe Sodi. They moved to Winchester in 1965, where they settled and raised their family. In Winchester, Mary
was employed as a hairdresser for many years, beginning at Woody’s Hairstyles on Mt. Vernon St. in Winchester, and then at Sal’s Hairstyles, where she made many lifelong friends. Mary was a great cook, and that’s a skill she passed onto her daughter Linda. Once she felt comfortable in Linda's cooking ability, Mary hung up her apron and never looked back. Mary loved to make people laugh, she always had a joke, and her eyes would light up after she delivered the punchline. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo at the local churches, and going to the casino.

Mary is lovingly survived by her children: Joseph P. Sodi, Jr. and his wife Doreen, of West Peabody, Robert D. Sodi and his wife Dyann of Winchester. She was predeceased by her daughter, Linda R. Sodi-Mazzeo, and several brothers and sisters. Mary was the devoted grandmother of Rachel Sodi, Robert Sodi, Jr., Rosa M. Mazzeo and her husband Brian Colby,
Toni French and her husband Mark, and the loving Great-Grandmother to Cole French and Lena French. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
