Obituary

Leo P. Pouliot, age 94, passed away on December 11, 2021. He was born on December 30, 1926 in Chicopee. He was a son of the late Arthur and Maria (Fortier) Pouliot. Leo served in the US Army. After the Army he got his Journeyman Electrical License. He worked for Soucy Electric in the 1950's. Then he worked at the Moore drop forging Co., (Chicopee plant). He then worked for Dave Northup electrical contractors, wiring houses until he started at Riverside Park in 1969 as an electrician. In 1970 he left Northrup contractors at Riverside and started his new career as the Superintendent of Maintenance at Riverside. He retired in 1992 but officially “hung it up” in 2008. Leo loved working and carpentry became a true passion of his. He also enjoyed boating on the Connecticut River and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Caroline R. (Augustynowicz) Pouliot of Chicopee; one son, Paul Pouliot and his wife Erin of Easthampton; one daughter, Michelle Slatton and her husband Richard of Chicopee; two brothers, Larry and Norman Pouliot of Chicopee; five grandchildren, Luke and his wife Jackie, Theresa and her husband Matt, Julie and her partner Scott, Kyle and his wife Kara and Kara and her husband Colin. He also leaves six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and two special friends, Zita and Tony. He is predeceased by two sisters and five brothers. All services will be private. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
