Mary (Calnan) Lahnston, 83, died Monday, December 13, 2021 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Born in Milford on November 19, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Daisy D. (Halliwell) Calnan.
Mary grew up in Medway, graduated from Medway High School in 1956 and resided there until moving to Millis in 2003.
Before her retirement at the age of 65, she had worked as a secretary at SunLife Financial for many years.
Mary loved to read and enjoyed gardening. She summered in Newport Rhode Island and wintered in Tarpon Springs, Florida enjoying many happy times with family and friends.
Her greatest passion was watching Tom Brady play football. A highlight for her was watching Brady play, together with his parents in their personal box, and meeting Tom after the home game.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Arndt and her husband Todd of Millis; MaryJo McDonough and her husband Brian of Scarborough, ME; Milissa Cafarella and her husband Michael of Charlottesville, VA; Paula Bagley and her husband Christopher of Scarborough, ME; Anton Lahnston and his wife Ruth of Reston, VA; and Katrina Foley and her husband Thomas of Shrewsbury.
She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Brian McDonough, Jr. and his wife Christina, Anna McDonough, Andrew Cafarella and his wife Kate, Matthew Cafarella, Emma and Nicholas Bagley, Abigail and Victoria Lahnston, Meghan DiRico and her husband Joseph, and Sean and Grace Foley.
She also leaves behind two great-grandsons, Thomas DiRico and Brady McDonough, her sister Ida Struck of Millis and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter Marchelle Corbett, three brothers, Raymond Calnan, John Calnan, Jr. and Estin Calnan, and two sisters, Hazel Ryan and Shirley Smith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Monday, December 20 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Due to the current Boston Archdiocese mask mandate, everyone is required to wear a mask if attending a funeral Mass unless you are speaking at the lectern.
