Obituary

Natalie Lichtenstein, 93, passed away peacefully, December 11, 2021 at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham, where she has received loving care since May. Formerly, Natalie lived at the Coleman House in Newton where, for 15 years, she participated in every activity possible, and served on numerous committees, taught English conversation to her Russian friends, and helped first year Tufts Medical students learn how to take histories from seniors.

Natalie was predeceased by her husband Martin Lichtenstein and her son Gerald Geffen. Natalie was the loving and devoted mother of Bonnie Cole and her husband Calvin of Needham, her daughter Lisa Driscoll of Peabody, and her son Steven Lichtenstein of Charlottesville, Virginia. She was the beloved grandmother (Nana) of Adam Cole and his wife Rachel, and Ben and Ali Lichtenstein. She was the cherished great-grandmother (Gi Gi) of Nathaniel and Joshua Cole.

Her warmth and outgoing personality meant that she made friends quickly and easily. Natalie would talk to anyone, anywhere. Natalie lived most of her life in Winthrop which has always been close to her heart. She worked for many years as a legal secretary for several large Boston law firms. Natalie had a wonderful voice and sang in a variety of shows throughout her life, often performing with her bandleader husband at a variety of clubs.

Family was the most important thing to Natalie. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and they were the joy and light of her life.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 1:00 PM.at the Dorchester Hebrew Helping Hand Cemetery, Everett MA, 02149. Due to Covid, services and shiva will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Torf Funeral Services in Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, donations in Natalie’s memory may be made to: The Coleman House, 677 Winchester Street, Newton, MA 02159.
