Obituary


Patricia A Smith, 71, of Rockland, Massachusetts passed away on December 12 at Boston Medical Center after losing her battle with COVID.

Born in Brockton Massachusetts in 1950 to Bernard G and Ann Ursula (Franey) Casey of Abington, Pat graduated from Brockton High School before attending Brockton Hospital School of Nursing. She then went on to graduate from St. Joseph’s College in Maine.

Pat was a Registered Nurse who was last employed as a visiting nurse before being disabled in 2003. She was an active member of the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She loved nursing and maintained many close relationships from her time at BHSN.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard “Smitty” Smith; her two daughters, Sarah (Smith) Collins and her husband Matthew of Whitman, MA and Colleen Smith of Rockland, MA. She leaves behind her only grandchild, Quinten Patrick Collins, who was her pride and joy; her siblings, Francis Casey and his wife Maryellen of Carver; Edward Casey of Easton; Marie Casey of Canton, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

For all of you that knew Pat, you know that she loved a good Irish wake with lots of laughter and stories. As sad as this day will be, we want you to join our celebration of her life in the way she always loved: with laughter and stories among friends and family.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Sunday, December 19 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and her funeral service on Monday, December 20 at 9:45 AM from the Chapel followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland.
