Obituary

MaryLou Robson, 76, of Methuen passed away peacefully at the High Pointe Hospice House on Friday December 10th surrounded by her “girls” Shani, Kimberly, and Eulin. Born in Somerville and residing in Methuen with her beloved partner of Henri “Hank” Hamel for 47 years. Marylou was the definition of a care giver, always putting patients first and providing the best care. She was a dedicated LPN at Holy Family Hospital for 35 years. She started out in the oncology dept. and finished her career in the emergency room. She would always say “a clean patient is
a happy patient.” Marylou is “epic” at the hospital and was known to everyone as “Ma” or
“Mamalou”. She was known as the “IV queen” always helping new nurses and mentoring them, taking them under her wing. She loved to go to Foxwoods and if you went, she would always make sure to have you send her a picture of the Indian for good luck. Marylou enjoyed playing bingo, the slot machines, raffles, getting her hair done, shopping, and spending time with Hank and her friends. She would tell it like it is, even if you didn’t want to hear it. She would never let a day go by that she didn’t check in with her friends to just ask “how’s it doing” and find out how your family is. That was Marylou, and she was loved. She is survived by her partner of 47 years, Henri Hamel; along with family members John Hamel, Arthur Hamel and wife Lillian, Gerry Hamel, Rita Pelletier, Claire Haggar and husband Roy, Cecile Wood and husband Eddie, brother in law; Leo Marchand, along with twenty three nieces and nephews. She also is survived by her special friends, her girls Shani Slattery and Kimberly Giuffre; and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Lou’s memory to the High Pointe Hospice House, 360 North Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830.
