Velma O'Donnell of Provincetown passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday December 10th at Stevens Memorial Hospital in Maine. She was 97.

Born January 15th 1924 in Provincetown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary [Crawly] Perry. She moved to Yarmouth and spent her early years there before moving back to Provincetown as a teenager, where she spent the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Provincetown High School. Velma married her husband Wallace O'Donnell and they built their home up the hill on Point Street in Provincetown. This is where they raised their daughter Marjorie (O'Donnell) Breton.

She spent her career working at Orleans District Court for Judge Welch, as his personal secretary.

After she retired, she spent her days baking, sewing, knitting and gardening. She enjoyed baking treats for her many friends and neighbors. Velma and Wally would walk down to the benches every night and enjoyed people watching. They would go to the "New beach" and watch sunsets. She loved Provincetown, its community and everything it has to offer. They traveled to Florida every winter to spend time with their daughter Margie.

Velma is survived by her daughter Marjorie Breton of Treasure Island Florida, her grandson Kelly Turner and his wife Katie Loranger of Bethel Maine, her great grandson Cameron Turner of Eastham as well as her many, many friends. She will be missed by all.

Velma will be laid to rest at 11:00 am Monday, December 20th at Provincetown Cemetery, Cemetery Rd, Provincetown, Mass.
