Isabel Cecile Frechette, 96, of Salem, NH passed away Sunday December 12, 2021 at Salem Haven Nursing Care in Salem. She was born December 17, 1924 in Lawrence, MA and was the daughter of the late William and Isabel (Gauvin) Oertel. Isabel was a long-time resident of the Salem area. She was a 1942 graduate of Lawrence High School.
Isabel was an employee of Western Electric in North Andover, MA in the inspection and testing department. She retired in 1979 after a 25-year career.
Isabel enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ice cream and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Her nieces and nephews were the proud recipients of Christmas gifts lovingly crocheted by their Aunt Izy. One of her greatest joys was spending time outside in her garden. She loved to sit in her lawn chair in the shade with her glass of water and relax after a hard day of gardening. Her nieces and nephews also fondly remember going on outings with Aunt Izy and Uncle Lucien to see Old Ironsides and to ride the gondola to the top of Mount Sunapee.
She was predeceased by her husband Lucien R. Frechette in 1985 and by her son, Michael G. Frechette in 2008. Family members include her brother-in-law, Robert Frechette of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. She will be especially missed by Karen and Tag Vennard, who had the joy of being her companions for the past 12 years.
At Isabel's request, there will be no services. She will be interred next to her husband at the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum in St. Mary Cemetery of Lawrence. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
