In Providence, RI. Viriato E. Pinto, age 87, passed away following a brief illness in the Hulitar Hospice Center. Viriato was the husband of the late Nelia (Freitas) Pinto. He was born in Jou Murca, Portugal, the son of the late Jose & Maria R. (Perreira) Pinto. Viriato had resided in Taunton since 1972 and was formerly of Africa and Portugal.
Viriato worked at Texas Instrument until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards, was known as the family handyman who could fix anything, was a member of the Taunton Eagles Club and above all loved spending time with his family.
Viriato is survived by his loving children; Iris Toner and husband Jay of Raynham, George Pinto and wife Marta of Taunton and Milton Pinto and wife Fredline of Providence, RI., his siblings; Maria Eliza Pinto, Emelia Costa Pinto and Edmund Pinto all of Portugal, and the late Diamentino Pinto, Raul Pinto and Maria Conceicao, his beloved grandchildren; Jack and Mia Toner of Raynham, Gabriel and Lucas Pinto of Taunton. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Funeral home visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA on Wednesday, December 15th from 9-10:30am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11am. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
