Mary Estelle Stapleton, 78 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, December 10, 2021 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Sunday, December 12, 2021 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Honorable Jim Puckett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Stapleton was born December 12, 1942, in Fitzgerald Georgia to the late Jim Smith McDonald and the late Vera Gertrude Meeker McDonald. She was a supervisor at Fitzgerald Underwear for thirty years and also worked as a cook at Johnnies Drive In, as well as Puckett’s Place. Mrs. Stapleton loved to play softball and loved to watch the Atlanta Braves.
She is survived by her daughter Shelia Ann Stapleton of Panama City Florida; grandchildren Katrina Waller, Brian (Kim) Waller and Jep (Amanda) Posey; great Grandchildren Chris Brown, Ashton Waller, and Gavin Waller; sisters Carolyn (John) Chambers and Mutt (Carl) Sumner.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Stapleton; a daughter, Shelba Jean Waller; brothers: Jimmy, Johnny and Pat McDonald; and a sister Vera Smith.
