Josephine T. Sacoco (Puleo) passed away peacefully at the Elmhurst Health Care Center on Thursday morning, December 9th. She was 91. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Carmella (Venezia) Puleo. Once married, Jo lived in Somerville before settling in Medford. For over 12 years she operated her own beauty shop in Somerville’s Davis Square, Jo’s Beauty Salon. Although she loved having her shop, Jo was primarily dedicated to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. A fantastic cook, she provided well for her loved ones. She and her late husband Sal enjoyed their life together. They always made time to enjoy a night on the town dancing the jitterbug and spending winters in Lauderdale, Florida.
The beloved wife of the late Salvatore Sacoco who passed away in 2009, Josephine was a devoted mother to Lorene Zani and her husband Jack of Wakefield, Philip Sacoco and his fiancée Anne Marie Invernizzi of Saugus and the late Florence Sacoco. She was a loving grandmother to Lisa Zani-Garrett, Jack Zani, Jr., and Gina SaeSo. She leaves three beloved great-grandchildren: Matteo, Nico and Annabella Garrett. Jo was the dear sister of the late Gus Puleo, Etta Pericotti, Betty Rider, Salvatore Puleo, Lucy Giammanco, Tony Puleo, Lena Puleo and Larry Puleo.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford on Wednesday, December 15 from 4 – 7 PM and again on Thursday morning at 9 followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
