LEICESTER: Marie "Seme" (Gallant) Poirier,95, of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Friday, Dec. 10 at her home.
She leaves her husband of 71 years, Marcel J. Poirier, her sons; James E. Poirier and his wife Nancy and Thomas J. Poirier and his wife Kathy all of Rutland, her daughters; Linda S. Lambert of Cherry Valley, Deborah J. Fortin and her husband Arthur of Detroit, MI, and Elizabeth A. Martin and her husband Chuck of Leicester, her brother Joseph Gallant of N.B., Canada, three sisters Elodie Millett of Leominster, Phoebe Petre and Regina Chevarie all of St. Johns, N.B., Canada, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 4 brothers and a sister.
Marie worked as a machine operator for Holden Plastics for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Placid and Delia (Voutour) Gallant.
She was a member of St. Joseph/St. Pius X Parish. Marie was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards, traveling around the world with her husband, trips to the casino, gardening and puzzles.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
