Obituary

Aurora A. "Ora" (DeMello) Rollins, 100, of Dartmouth passed away Tuesday November 30, 2021 of Covid induced pneumonia. She was the wife of the late Ernest A. Gelinas and Albert Rollins.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John and Agatha (Maciel) DeMello.

Ora worked in retail sales at Lloyd's, the California Shop, and Barclay Furs until her retirement.

She enjoyed "junking" with her daughter and friends, bus rides to Foxwoods, and reading. She loved her family and friends and always enjoyed being in their company.

Ora was a very special woman, feisty, fun, and fierce. She is loved and will be missed by many.

She leaves behind her heart-broken daughter, Anne Marie Couto and her beloved son-in-law, Raymond J. DeCosta. She also leaves her grandchildren, Catherine M. Couto, Stephen J. Couto, Michael Gelinas, Anthony Gelinas, Tricia Theodore, Christopher Travers, Danny Travers, and Jonathan Travers, with whom she had a special relationship with in her latter years. She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Ashley Ann Baumgardner, Tabitha Pires, Madison Theodore, and Noah Travers, and her great-great-grandchildren, Jason Hathaway and Jayln Pires. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Ernest Gelinas, Jr. and her grandson, David Gelinas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth Thursday January 6, 2022 at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
