Honorable Allen J. Jarasitis Retired Associate Justice Of Massachusetts Trial Court. A lifelong Charlestown resident, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at his home in Charlestown. He was 82 years of age.
Judge Jarasitis was born in Boston on January 22, 1939, a son of the late Alexander Jarasitis and Dorothy (Johnson) Jarasitis. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from there in 1952. He attended Boston Technical High School and graduated in 1956. He furthered his education and attended Boston University where he was an outstanding hockey player and was a member of the varsity hockey team at Boston University and competed with the team in the Team Final 4 for the NCAA Championship title in 1960, as well as to the ECAC Championship win the same year. He graduated from Boston University in 1960.
In 1968 Judge Jarasitis received a Doctor of Law Degree from Suffolk Law School, the same year he became a member of the Massachusetts Bar. He practiced law in Charlestown from 1968 to 1990 having the privilege of owning his own Law Office on Main Street in Charlestown.
In 1991, Judge Jarasitis was appointed Associate Justice of The Massachusetts Trial Court and his long and distinguished career as a Trial Judge of public service spanned for 17 years where he enjoyed his many colleagues and friends throughout his tenure. He retired in 2008 following his many years of dedicated service to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Judge Jarasitis was a founding member of the Milt Schmidt Hockey program in Charlestown and was very instrumental in the incorporation of the Charlestown Pop Warner program. In 1969, upon request of former Mayor Kevin White, he opened and managed the Charlestown Little City Hall. He was a devout member of St. Mary's Parish in Charlestown and a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus. Judge Jarasitis was an avid golfer, and at any given time he would proudly boast to anyone who would listen about the 3 holes-in-one he achieved over his many years as a member at Oakley Country Club in Watertown where he enjoyed his many friends for golf. He also enjoyed the many trips to Jupiter, Florida in the winter months with his wife Sandra where they cherished those warm months of retirement .
Allen is the adored husband of 59 years to Sandra M. (Heelen) Jarasitis. He is the devoted father of Allison McGonagle and her husband Patrick of Reading, Jeffrey Jarasitis and his wife Kelli of Stoughton and Gregory Jarasitis of California. He is the World's Best Grandpa to Olivia, Alexander, Maddy, Jake and Patrick IV. He is the beloved brother of Irene McGee of Quincy and the late Dorothy Harrison. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Judge Jarasitis's Funeral on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be private. His visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
