HIRAM- Eleanor B. Twitchell, 98, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, after a short
illness.
Eleanor was born in Portland, Maine to William and Bertha Barton. She moved to Hiram in
1949 to teach at Mt. Cutler School. She married Walter G. Twitchell. Eleanor taught until she
retired in 1986.
Besides teaching, Eleanor was involved in the Bridgton Hospital Guild, Hiram Community
Church, Soldiers Memorial Library, Hiram Historical Society and many other small
organizations.
Eleanor's presence left a lasting impression on the town of Hiram. She leaves behind a niece,
Debora of Ossipee; niece Jeannie of Newport, VT, nephew Steve of Hopkinton, NH and niece
Susan of Bridgton. She also leaves longtime friend and caregiver Priscilla Howard of Hiram.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 19 at 1 PM at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Hiram.
