Sara P. Burgess passed on December 6, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah (Doherty) Burgess. She was raised in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of Mission High School. She continued her education at Boston College first receiving a BS in sociology and later an MSW from the Boston College School of Social Work. Always interested in the care of children, Sara was a social worker at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Public Welfare and conducted field work placement at the Division of the Blind and the Medical Social Training Project. She also worked at the Rhode Island Hospital and later became the Director of Social Services at the Kennedy Memorial Hospital. To further her knowledge on the care of all individuals, she returned to the Department of Public Health where she monitored the care provided to patients in long term care facilities. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers as well as the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She was active in the ministries of the Holy Family Parish in Rockland, Massachusetts. She was predeceased in death by her siblings the late Mary Burgess, the late Catherine Luvisi and the late Dr. Daniel Burgess. She leaves her sister Margaret Burgess of Canton. She also leaves nieces Mary T. Luvisi (William Sterritt) of Cape May, New Jersey, Kathleen A. Luvisi, Sara J. Luvisi, and Margaret E. Luvisi, all of Waltham, Roseanne P. Luvisi (Lauren Downing) of Weymouth, and Susan E. Duffy (Darren) of Dorchester; and grand-nephews Anthony Luvisi and Reilly Sterritt. Funeral from the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Monday December 13 at 10 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury at 11:30 am.
